Our group's work on text mining was recently highlighted in a UC Irvine press release, which was subsequently picked up by quite a few newspapers around the world and by blogs such as Slashdot.

July 2006

Two new Phd students have joined our the Lab, Ajay Mishra from India, and Arthur Asuncion who was a UC Irvine undergraduate in 2006 and who is a recent recipient of an NSF graduate research fellowship.

May 2006

Sergey Kirshner has moved to a postdoc position at the University of Alberta and Mike Duff has taken a research position at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

March 2006

The Lab is participating in a newly-announced FBIRN brain-imaging research project funded by NIH. This is a multi-university grant involving brain-imaging researchers at UC Irvine, Stanford, UCSD, UCLA, Harvard, Yale, and Duke. Seyoung Kim (Phd student in the DataLab) is working on advanced statistical learning algorithms for image analysis as part of this project.
